The college aims to educate technicians in the field of agriculture and forestry, capable to boost the development of Laos’ upland areas, contributing to conservation of upland ecosystems, ensuring food security, improving livelihoods of rural communities, and support the ongoing transition from subsistence to a commercialised smallholder agriculture.
Graduates from the college are able to apply gained experience, skills and knowledge in their working environment and their daily lives. They learn how to adapt to local situations and respond to changing context of the Lao rural economy and new agricultural techniques.
The 3 years Curriculum for Higher Diploma in Applied Agriculture and Forestry Program offers a good balance between theory, applied theory, and practice. The teaching and learning in the college emphasises on practical application of knowledge and skills with overall 60% of practical teaching. This revised curriculum is implemented at the college since the academic year 2010/2011.
